Search Engine Indexing

Action Required

Your profile and posts are public and may be indexed by search engines like Google. Information that can appear in search results includes:

  • Name
  • Photos
  • Bio
  • Location

01Introduction

Welcome to MentSocial ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our platform.

02Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly to us, including:

  • Name, email address, and profile information
  • Your age, and confirmation of parent or guardian permission for teen accounts
  • Photos and media you upload
  • Messages and communications on the platform
  • Payment information (processed securely via Stripe)
  • Location data (when you enable location features)
  • Usage data and activity on the platform

03How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and improve our services
  • Match you with other users based on your preferences
  • Process transactions and send related information
  • Send notifications and updates about your account
  • Respond to comments, questions, and requests
  • Monitor and analyze usage patterns to improve user experience

04Sharing of Information

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

  • With other users as part of the platform's matching and social features
  • With service providers who assist in operating our platform (e.g., Stripe for payments, Google for authentication)
  • When required by law or to protect rights and safety

05Public Profiles & Search Engine Indexing

Your profile and the content you post (such as posts, stories, and photos) are public by default and may be viewed by anyone, including people who are not logged in to MentSocial.

We allow search engines such as Google to index public profiles and posts. This means your name, photos, bio, location, and post content may appear in search engine results and be discoverable outside of MentSocial.

To limit this exposure, you can:

  • Adjust your privacy settings in the Settings page
  • Delete specific posts, stories, or your profile photo
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data

Please note that even after content is removed from MentSocial, search engines may retain cached copies for some time. We cannot control third-party search engine caches or guarantee immediate removal from search results.

06Google Sign-In

We offer sign-in via Google. When you use Google Sign-In, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google. We use this information solely to create and manage your account. We do not access your Google contacts, calendar, or other Google data.

07Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

08Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Opt out of marketing communications

09Cookies

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to track activity on our platform and hold certain information to improve your experience. You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent.

10Children, Teens and Minors

MentSocial is for people aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us so we can remove it and the information with it.

Members aged 13 to 17 use teen accounts, which start with stricter privacy defaults: their posts are shared only with the people they are connected with, and their profiles and content are not listed for search engine indexing.

Teen accounts cannot use payment, selling or payout features, and so no payment, card or payout data is collected for them. We also do not use teen account information for advertising personalised to them.

Parents and guardians can review, correct or request deletion of their child's information, or close the account, by contacting us. We may ask for confirmation of age before restoring access to an account.

11Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
